Teaching environment and law library at Kaplan Law School

Our teaching rooms are specifically designed and built to hold no more than 18 students which ensures we always run small class sizes. Smaller classes help accelerate student learning and understanding and give tutors more contact time with each student.

Our tutors know their students by name; learning issues can be quickly identified and complex matters can be given more time and focus.

Our teaching rooms are designed for practical exercises and small group work, including the availability of numerous whiteboards to facilitate group discussions as well as Hitachi starboard technology allowing annotation of materials and web screen shots.

Lecture theatre

Our lecture theatre is purpose built to hold no more than 96 students. This ensures the tutor can engage with all throughout the session and makes the session much more interactive than the traditional lecture.  The theatre also houses modern technical facilities including the Hitachi starboard with dvd provision allowing students to view examples of interviews or court cases and additional equipment allowing the recording of lectures for review at a later date for revision purposes.

Professional resource centre / library

The Professional Resource Centre reflects the integration of IT and traditional library resources which will be characteristic of research resources during your professional careers.

There are two areas dedicated to PC use.  You will be able to access a very wide range of electronic research resources including all the major databases.  In addition the student intranet gives you access to your course materials and to other useful information including careers advice.  Printing and copying facilities are available free of charge.

This is complimented by the traditional library area. Here you can expect to find the texts you would find in the library in a medium sized firm.  These include Halsburys, the All England Law Reports and the main practitioner texts.

The aim is to prepare you for practice by ensuring that you are familiar and confident with the resources you are likely to come across at your firm.

Every Kaplan Law School student receives a wireless enabled netbook on the first day of their course, to help access the learning materials and the internet. Our premises have free wireless access to the internet.

Our librarian Marylon is available during normal office hours to assist you with any queries you may have and the facilities are open as follows:

Monday - Friday 8.30am – 9pm
Saturday - 9am – 6pm
Sunday - 9am – 4pm
