Legal Practice Course LPC study course outline

We structure and deliver your LPC study to give you the best possible chance of attaining the LPC qualification through success in your LPC exams.

Legal Practice course stage one

On stage one of the Legal Practice Course LPC you will undertake the following LPC study:

  • The core LPC subjects of business law and practice (BLP) including business accounts, property law and practice (PLP), and litigation (civil and criminal)
  • Conduct and regulation (including solicitors’ accounts)
  • Wills and tax
  • The key legal skills that underpin the LPC qualification: research, writing, drafting, advocacy, interviewing and advising.

To achieve competence in the Legal Practice Course core subjects, you will learn how to integrate legal knowledge, transactional expertise and skills.  For example, in handling a contract based litigation matter, you will need to master:

  • The law of contract
  • Court procedures and tactics
  • Skills such as interviewing, drafting and advocacy.

Applying this tripartite approach to each subject in our Legal Practice Courses and as part of your route through the LPC qualification, will be crucial to your success in the LPC exams.

You will be able to choose the context in which your LPC study covers legal skills by choosing a pathway.

Legal Practice Course stage two

Stage two comprises three vocational electives. Our Legal Practice Courses have a full range of electives on offer which build on the knowledge you have acquired in the core subjects as part of your LPC study at stage one.  Your choice of electives may be determined by your training contract law firm, or you may be able to choose freely.  We will assist you with your choice of electives to ensure that they enhance the pathway you have chosen in stage one, and to ensure that you have you the best opportunity of securing the right type of training contract once you attain the LPC qualification.
