Bar Professional Training Course - BPTC

From September 2010 the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) will be called the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC). We have been validated by the Bar Standards Board (BSB) to deliver the Nottingham Law School (NLS) BPTC course in London as from September 2010. The Nottingham Law School Bar Vocational Course has been long established as one of the best in the country with double the average pupillage rates and the highest student satisfaction rates.

About the Bar professional training Course (BPTC) in London

The Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) in London is the same as the course delivered at Nottingham Law School. Students have access to the same BPTC course materials and our London campus provides exceptional student support, careers service, and a dedicated BPTC Resource Room.

We have limited our Bar professional training Course (BPTC) numbers to 90 so we can apply high admissions standards thereby ensuring a bright cohort of students and the best chances of securing a pupillage.  To that end all shortlisted applicants for the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) will be required to attend a BPTC selection day.

The former leader of the Nottingham Law School Bar Vocational Course (BVC), James Wakefield, has moved to London to ensure we provide the same quality of teaching and student experience in London for the BPTC.

  • There will be regular contact with barristers, the bench and the Inns.
  • We offer advocacy, mooting & mock trial competitions judged by practitioners.
  • We have mock court rooms and a dedicated BPTC Resource Room.

LLB for non law Graduates converting to Law

Students who complete our Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) having done our GDL (in Nottingham or London), or a GDL with another provider, have the opportunity to obtain a full Nottingham Trent University LLB (known as a graduate LLB), reflecting the significant effort and achievement of the combination of a GDL and our BPTC course.
