All applications for the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) are processed through the Bar Standards Board centralised application system.

Application Process

We have limited our numbers on the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) to 120 so we can apply high admissions standards thereby ensuring a bright cohort of BPTC students and the best chances of securing a pupillage.

You can apply for your place on the Bar Professional Training Course 2012/13 course from 7 November 2011. The closing date for first round applications is 12 January 2012. As places are limited and competition intense, we suggest applicants apply during the first round. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a selection event in February 2012.  

Once you have accepted a place at Kaplan you are encouraged to use the Careers Service to help with pupillage applications. The deadline for accepting a first round offer is 3 April 2012.

The clearing round opens on 9 February 2012.

Late applications for the BPTC also go through the Bar Standards Board process. Late applications can be submitted from 16 April 2012. We welcome applications until the course is full.
